Fund Makes Affordable Housing
Available to People with Disabilities

The Disability Opportunity Fund (DOF) is the only certified Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI) solely committed to increasing the amount of quality, affordable and appropriate housing for people with disabilities of all kinds throughout the United States.

Here’s the story of one loan. Six lifelong friends live together in Connecticut, in a house near a bus stop. They go grocery shopping and cook meals together, sharing the stories of their lives. Each is affected daily by a particular developmental disability, but living in their own home gives them the stability and support they need to live as independently as possible, with the resulting dignity.

This home was the result of years of hard work and advocacy by parents and a local nonprofit agency. The DOF and Leviticus Fund, another CDFI, helped with a $100,000 loan. All DOF loans are possible only because of mission-compatible investors like the Adrian Dominican Sisters.
