     Through investments made in community organizations the Congregation is able to continue to carry out its mission. It is by partnering with these community-focused groups that these financial resources are able to have a critical impact where otherwise there may not have been a presence.

Newly Funded Projects

Community Investment Loans Approved from January – December 2010
The nonprofit organizations which received funding in 2010 address various domestic and international projects and programs that: foster rebuilding efforts in hurricane affected gulf regions; provide access to capital for quality affordable housing; provide supportive housing and services for people who are homeless; develop worker training programs and provide links to jobs for people in need; develop housing and opportunities for people with disabilities.

Chicago Community Loan Fund (CCLF),
Chicago, Illinois

The CCLF mission is to provide low-cost, flexible financing and free/low-cost technical assistance to nonprofit community development organizations for affordable housing, economic development, and social service initiatives in low-and moderate-income neighborhoods through the Chicago Metropolitan area. They work creatively to rejuvenate neighborhoods and improve lives for low-wealth individuals and families who live in those communities.
 

San Luis Obispo Co. Housing Trust Fund (SLOCHTF),
San Luis Obispo, California

The purpose of SLOCHTF is to provide financing and technical assistance to private developers, nonprofit corporations, and local governments to support the creation and preservation of affordable housing. They were formed with the goal of supporting and increasing the supply of affordable housing for the very low and low-to-moderate income residents of San Luis Obispo County, which includes persons with special needs.


Michigan Interfaith Trust Fund (MITF),
Lansing/Detroit, Michigan

The Michigan Interfaith Trust Fund fosters economic and social justice by provdiing loans and technical assistance for affordable housing and economic development throughout Michigan.


Oikocredit USA,
Washington, DC

Oikocredit USA is a nonprofit organization whos funds are used to provide low-interest micro-loans to people in poor communities in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean through cooperative enterprises and micro-credit banks.


St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center,
Baltimore, Maryland

The purpose of our loan with St. Ambrose is to assist in saving homeownership as Baltimore's neighborhoods continue to change radically and demographically. This is accomplished through a continuum of counseling and housing development programs that reach over 3,000 families a year.


Institute of Women Today (IWT),
Chicago, Illinois

IWT operates Maria Shelter and facilities which provide food, shelter and programs for more than 2,000 women and children in a homeless situation each year. In addition, they work with women to alleviate and address the causes of their homelessness. IWT also sponsors the Vincenees Senior Center, which offers health services, social activities, educational opportunities, and a nutritious meal for over 100 area seniors each weekday. IWT is located in the Englewood community of Chicago, one of the lowest income and highest crime areas in Chicago.


Housing Development Center (HDC) Inc.,
Portland, Oregon

The Housing Development Center and associated Community Fund supports the creation and preservation of affordable housing opportunities and community service facilities that serve low income families and individuals. Their work strives to strengthen and build the capacity of nonprofits to expand their impact as well. HDC services are primarily provided within the state of Oregon and in southwest Washington.


The Disability Opportunity Fund (DOF),
Albertson, New York

The DOF invests funds in projects that provide housing and opportunities for people with disabilities throughout the United States. All loans benefit people with disabilities, primarily persons with a low to moderate income. The DOF specifically focuses on assisting young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, but remains open to assisting those with different types of disabilities.


Four Directions Development Corporation (FDDC),
Bangor, Maine

FDDC is an inter-tribal organization that has a mission to improve the social and economic conditions of tribal members in the four Maine Tribes (Maliseet, Micmac, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscot) through education and investment in affordable housing, tribal ventures, and native entrepreneurs.
