     Through investments made in community organizations the Congregation is able to continue to carry out its mission. It is by partnering with these community-focused groups that these financial resources are able to have a critical impact where otherwise there may not have been a presence.

Newly Funded Projects

Community Investment Loans Approved from January – December 2012
The nonprofit organizations which received funding during this period address various domestic and international projects and programs that: foster rebuilding efforts and disaster relief in affected regions; provide access to capital for quality affordable housing; provide supportive housing and services for people who are homeless; develop worker training programs and provide links to jobs for people in need; develop housing and opportunities for people with disabilities.

     Genesis Fund, Inc.
Damariscotta, Maine
The Genesis Fund aids local entities that are developing housing and/or community facilities for the people of Maine who have limited opportunities to better lives. They work with community projects such as child care, adult day care, community centers, libraries, food cooperatives, adult education and seek links to social services.
     
  Greater New Haven Community Loan Fund
Greater New Haven, CT
The Greater New Haven Community Loan Fund provides resources for affordable housing and community development in the New Haven region of Connecticut. Their loan products provide for small minority and women-owned contractors also.
     
  Homewise, Inc.
Santa Fe, NM
The Homewise programs and loans provide underserved populations, especially immigrants to achieve financial security and towards a successful path to homeownership. Through their Home Smart Program they are helping to stabilize at-risk neighborhoods.
     
  Isaiah Fund, Inc.
Jenkintown, PA
The Isaiah Funds work to revitalize communities and remedy economic injustice through low-interest loans in economically stressed areas in the US that have suffered disasters, such as hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
     
 

Kentuckians for the Commonwealth (KFTC)
London, KY
KFTC promotes active citizen participation in the democratic process and uses community organizing, leadership development and action to challenge and change unfair political, economic and social systems.  

     
  Leviticus 25:23 Alternative Fund
Elmsford, NY
Leviticus provides flexible financing for community development projects serving low-income communities. They support affordable and supportive housing, community-based facilities including child care and resident purchases of manufactured home parks.
     
  Opportunity Resource Fund
Lansing/Detroit, MI
The Opportunity Resource Fund fosters economic and social justice by providing loans and technical assistance for affordable housing and economic development throughout Michigan.
     
  Partners for the Common Good (PCG)
Washington, DC
PCG is a nonprofit working to advance economic justice and opportunity by partnering with mission focused organizations to provide access to capital for persons in low-income communities.
     
  PeopleFund
Austin, TX
PeopleFund creates economic opportunity and financial stability for underserved people by providing access to capital, education and the resources to build healthy small businesses.
     
  Red Tomato, for Oké USA Fruit Company
Plainville, MA
Red Tomato is committed to empowerment for farmers, treatment of dignity and payment of a fair price through their ownership of the brand. Through the establishment of Oké USA Fruit Company they seek to circumvent the effect of short term profits to help improve lives for workers and for environmental health. Fair trade seeks to reverse detrimental trends and promotes justice, provides opportunities and represents an alternative to both farmers and consumers.
     
  San Francisco Community Land Trust (SFCLT)
San Francisco, CA
The SFCLT works to create permanent affordable resident-controlled housing for low-to-moderate income people in San Francisco through community ownership of land.
     
  SosteNica, Inc.
West Chester, PA
SosteNica, Inc. is an intermediary nonprofit organization that links social investors in the United Stated and Europe with a micro-lending organization in Nicaragua. In addition, their program assists them in keeping agriculture ecologically sustainable and works on reforestation practices.
